SNOWSHOE DREAM LAKE: This pic by @muahbyannji has me inspired to get outside! And I don’t think there could be a beautiful, and snow-blanketed time than right now. Here, she’s snowshoeing Dream Lake, via Bear Lake Trail. You can find in depth info on this trail (markings, length, etc), here. If you’re local to Denver and don’t have snowshoes, get info on rentals here.
A GUIDED HIKE IS AN OPTION, TOO: If you’re the type that likes to show up and go, without the hassle of researching trails and wondering what gear you might need, go on a guided winter hike/snowshoe. Adventurer Natalie Magee has one scheduled for this weekend (with only 2 spots left!) and another, for March 19, and you can find info for that one, here.
BE A CHEAP DATE: People always ask me about the best deals in town and one I really love is from The Denver Central Market. Grab a pizza from Vero, which is in my top 3 favorite pizzas, and then grab the $20 a bottle wine special from Curio Bar and you’ve got yourself an under $40 night. Need that dollar number to be lower? Head over to Pizzeria Locale, where a Margherita Pizza will run you $5.50 a pie! And they have wine on tap!
LEARN CALLIGRAPHY: Ink + Root doesn’t just teach you how to create beautiful calligraphy, it does it in a beautiful space, too. Ink + Root has teamed up with Hotel Teatro to offer workshops, the next one being Valentine’s themed.
These are perfect for the creative who wants to learn something new, or the person looking to make new creative friends. December and January’s workshops sold out fast, so get all the details here.
Psssst, I don’t know if I’m supposed to tell you but use code, “”forever friends” and get $10 OFF!
ICE SKATE EVERGREEN LAKE: By summer, the Evergreen Lake (and its Lake House) is a picturesque backdrop of many weddings, by winter, when the lake freezes over, it’s a winter wonderland, perfect for skaters. They make it really easy to have a fun day there, as you can buy your admission ticket ($7 for adults) and prepay for your skate rental ($7). Need more info – I’ve got that right here!
After a few spins around the lake, check out the onsite restaurant, Willow Creek, for food and adult beverages! And best of all, all this is just a 40 minute drive from Denver!
GET YOUR CULTURE ON: CultureHaus is a really cool organization comprised of a group of young arts lovers in Denver, formed with the purpose of helping promote our city’s artistic community and the terrific work of the Denver Art Museum. They are throwing a huge bash to celebrate their 20th anniversary celebration, this Saturday, which coincides awesomely with one of Denver Art Museum’s most exciting exhibits: “Star Wars™ and the Power of Costume.”
Open bar? A Photo Booth from From The Hip? I’m there! Get ticket info, here.
HIT ONE OF THE BIGGEST PARTIES OF THE YEAR: You’ve read about Hop Alley, (named Denver’s #1 restaurant by 5280 Magazine) you’ve tried to get into Hop Alley… maybe you thought you’d let the crowds die down, but I’m here to tell you,… since that will never happen, why not go to their biggest party of the year? GET A FREE WORKOUT & BRUNCH: If you’re looking for 2017 to be your fittest year yet, reserve your free workout this weekend at FIT36, named, because you’ll get a full body workout in just 36 minutes. Here’s the lowdown: This Sunday, January 22, FIT36 will take over Brider, so Denverites can experience this High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT) with some of the best trainers from their local studios.

THIS SHIRT: I need it. That is all. Get it from local designer, August Ink, here.
MY FAVORITE PLACE: I just love Hudson Hill in Cap Hill. I fell in love with it first as a bar, where I swooned over vinyl records playing in the background. But now they’ve extended their hours and you can grab coffee, as well as adult beverages!
And look how beautiful Hudson Hill is! Check out location and hours, here.
ON YOUR LIST: Try something new! How about, the noodle bowl (pictured) from Pho 79? Or maybe the Lobster Ramen from Bones, which A Fat Guy In Denver calls his favorite. If you want your ramen with a side of magic, go to Domo, whose Japanese country farmhouse theme will transport you across the world. What’s good? I hear the Unagi ramen is great, as is the Kara-Age Ramen and the Katsudon (a bowl of rice topped with a deep-fried pork cutlet, egg and vegetables).
Have the best tamale of your life (I swear, moist and so flavorful) at Que Bueno Suerte! (pictured) in Platte Park. The atmosphere is super fun and they serve my favorite kind of margarita: strong and not overly sweet. Need more assurance about its amazingness? Chef Dana Rodriguez, of Work & Class is behind the upscale modern Mexican food. What to get? The Castillo Ribs; the guacamole; Faisan A La Pibil, which is achote pan roasted pheasant that was stand up and applaud worthy (get it with tortillas) and the Elote Con Hongos, corn grits that are crispy with an amazing mushroom compote.
